By Mark Mangie. It is time to rein in the press. The rabid press has gotten it wrong again. Starting with the 2016 election and their coronation plans for Hillary Clinton; moving on to the Kavanaugh hearings where they proclaimed him a child rapist; moving onto the Covington boys being declared racists and claimed they assaulted a “tribal elder;” and now 2 ½ of years of the most vial garbage and accusations you can imagine holding the President of the United States out to the world as a traitor night after night, day after day, 24/7 of poisonous coverage…AND THEY KNEW IT WAS A LIE…the press has descended into the swamp of nothing but name calling.
Within the broadcast networks…on average 3 ½ minutes per day within their hard news coverage has been dedicated to bashing the President. On MSNBC and CNN…it is 24 hours/day.
President Trump stated again this morning…the fake news press is the enemy of the people. I agree 100%. Special privileges have been granted to our press because they are to perform a function in our society…to be a watchdog on those in power. But that function died entirely with Barack Obama, who for eight years was treated as Jesus second coming while Trump has been treated as the devil tempting Christ in the wilderness non-stop.
It effects every aspect of our life. Most of all, at the top of the list, it effects our foreign policy. Most people don’t know this, but for the most part, people in other parts of the world can only get American news through CNN. Think about it.
The establishment press is now reporting nothing but talking points provided to them from sources within the Democratic Party and associated 501 C 3’s funded by leftist donors. It is time for the Federal Election Commission and the Federal Communication Commission to look at what is going on. It is one thing for the press to have an editorial point of view. It is another for them to become the propaganda arm of a political party to the point you can’t tell whether it is the press or the DNC running the politics.
The press is given special privileges to allow it to fulfill its function such as protections against forcing disclosure of anonymous sources. Those kinds of privileges have been abused when those “sources” cease providing honest information but rather provide a smokescreen for known lies. The press has special protections against liable and slander. But when they purposely bring on guests who claim to have information or something newsworthy…and all they have are opinions and lies…AND THE PRESS KNOWS THEY ARE LIES WHEN THEY BRING THEM ON…then those protections need to be revisited.
The biggest danger to a free press is not Donald Trump. The biggest danger to a free press is the press itself which has abused the protections it is afforded by running aknowingly false political narratives to achieve a political goal.
