The biggest story about the Russian investigation you probably don’t know is the collapse of CNN, especially if you watch CNN or the broadcast networks as your primary source of news. Over the past 10 days the credibility of CNN has been decimated as scandal after scandal about the truth of what has gone on there since the election has been disclosed. CNN’s scoop story published a week ago dealt with an investigation by Congress and the Treasury Department about the relationship between a Trump operative and a Russian investment firm. It was a total fabrication. CNN withdrew the story and three members of its investigating reporting team were fired…forced to resign. CNN president Jeff Zucker now requires that all stories relating to Russia be run through him before being published or broadcast. But that was too little too late. The true bombshell was released yesterday when Project Veritas released a secretly recorded video of CNN producer John Bonifield, in the most graphic of terms, describing the policies and practices of CNN…and the true motivations behind what you are seeing being reported as news. The real danger for CNN is that the possibility now exists that it may lose its protection as a news organization, and be forced to disclose its confidential sources of illegally leaked information. Couple that with Jim Acosta’s complete breakdown at a White House press briefing the other day, some are saying CNN should have its White House press credentials pulled. Those of you who hate Donald Trump may roll your eyes. But the damage done by this sort of behavior by a supposedly reputable press organization does more to harm the country than anything Trump could do. Finally…if what the Mr. Bonifield says is true…why is the American taxpayer paying tens upon tens of millions of dollars investigating what a CNN producer described as “Bulls*(%$!” ?
